I'm not sure what caused the surge in mask wearing yesterday, because the compliance with this recommendation has dropped back to about 40% where it was two days ago. Whatever propaganda was tossed at the serfs didn't stick, and the reason for this can be found in basic psychology.
The idea was clearly to shame people into submission: Responsible people wear their masks, even if there's no law requiring us to do so. Only the irresponsible and selfish take advantage of their freedom.
This logic explains why there were so many people making a deliberate act of their submission to the mask recommendation. They were making a point of being responsible and caring, and they were trying to shame me into submission. However, an act of submission cannot be used in this way. The submissive is never the master, and this must have become clear to just about everyone over the last 24 hours.
The ones still wearing their masks are the submissive ones. They also display signs of depression. They look down, they avoid eye contact, and their posture is often hunched. Those without a mask hold their heads high, their posture is assertive, and they look confident and happy.
The failed propaganda push has only highlighted this distinction. The ones with no masks were noticeably upbeat this morning. The ones wearing their masks were all the more depressed.
