Molten Iron is not Magnetic

Earth's magnetic field is supposedly generated by a core of molten iron deep inside our planet. However, molten iron is not magnetic. Molten iron is not a good explanation for the existence of Earth's magnetic field.

Magnetic fields are generated by electric currents. These currents may be inside our planet, or in our atmosphere, or both. We know for sure that our atmosphere holds charge. We know that it moves rapidly. In other words, we know that our atmosphere generates a magnetic field. What we don't know is whether our atmosphere is the only source of the magnetic field.
