From observing the photosphere of the Sun, it is clear that it is a liquid. This means that the Sun has a real surface.
Above this surface is a 3000 to 5000 km thick layer called the chromosphere, above which there is the corona, an aura of plasma that extends millions of kilometers into space.
From looking at pictures of the chromosphere I get the distinct impression that I'm looking at an atmosphere full of electric activity, and I am left wondering:
If the Sun's photosphere is a real surface, wouldn't that make the chromosphere its atmosphere?
